Our Future Landscapes: making the most of the moorland environment in and around the Holme and Colne Valleys.
Funding has been secured to support landscape restoration and flood risk reduction work in the Wessenden Valley.
To explore how we can work together to make the most of the fantastic moorland environment in and around the upper Holme and Colne Valleys a morning meeting and workshop has been set up on Saturday 2nd March at Marsden Mechanics from 10am – 1pm.
In setting out an ambitious vision for the future the meeting will also involve everyone in discussing the following issues:
- How can we improve our moorland environment to make it better for people and nature?
- Could it be more accessible, support green jobs, improve the water quality, tackle climate change, generate energy and provide an outdoor classroom?
All your ideas will be most welcome and will form the basis of a vision and plan for our South Pennine landscape. The National Trust, Moors for the Future, Yorkshire Water, White Rose Forest, The Environment Agency, Woodland Trust, Kirklees Council and a range of community organisations will be on hand to discuss the options.
After this meeting the organisers hope people will get involved in practical conservation work and further planning and project development.
